I just recently realized that many people still don't fully understand Tether. So I want to share my experience using this stablecoin.
Tether is the stablecoin I rely on the most when the market is volatile. Its concept is simple—its value is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, so there's no need to worry about its value collapsing like other cryptocurrencies. When Bitcoin and Ethereum prices drop drastically, I immediately swap my crypto assets to Tether to protect my profits. It's much safer compared to holding in altcoins that can drop 50% in a day.
What makes me like Tether is its availability across various blockchains. Not only on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token, but also on Solana, Polygon, and other networks. This gives me great flexibility if I want to trade on different platforms without needing to convert multiple times.
From a transparency perspective, Tether Limited regularly releases reports about their reserve holdings. Although there was controversy in the past, this shows they are serious about building trust. Unlike some other stablecoins with minimal communication.
For practical use, I see Tether as the main choice in DeFi for liquidity pools. On Uniswap or Aave, pairs with Tether always have high volume. This makes transactions smooth and spreads small. Additionally, many use Tether for international remittances because it's faster and cheaper than traditional wire transfers.
I also saw traders using Tether as a medium for swing trading between altcoins without needing to go back to fiat. This strategy is quite effective if the timing of entry and exit is right.
If asked about the difference with other stablecoins, Tether still has the largest market cap and adoption. Although USDC and other stablecoins are starting to rise, Tether remains the default choice on most exchanges and DeFi protocols.
So basically, Tether is a tool I consider essential for anyone active in the crypto market. Whether for hedging, trading, or liquidity provision—Tether consistently delivers the stability needed. If you haven't tried it yet, it might be worth exploring on Gate or other platforms to experience firsthand how the crypto market dynamics feel with a stable asset like this.
