Recently, I was reviewing which altcoins could have a strong year in 2026, and there are three that definitely stand out above the rest. They’re not surprises, but the fundamentals behind each are quite solid if you look at them in detail.
Let's start with Ethereum. It’s trading around $2,320, quite far from its recent high of $4,950. The Prague upgrade really changed things in terms of Layer-2 efficiency; fees dropped significantly, and the network became more practical for large-scale operations. What’s interesting is that long-term holders aren’t selling, which says a lot about confidence in the project. Additionally, institutional interest is at an all-time high, with big names like BlackRock and JPMorgan investing in tokenized finance projects. Ethereum remains the backbone of DeFi.
Now, Solana is another fascinating case. It recently dipped a bit, hovering around $85, but that doesn’t reflect any real problem with the network. Solana has the Firedancer upgrade that allows it to process over a million transactions per second, which is simply incredible in terms of performance. What impresses me is that the value locked in the Solana ecosystem remained stable even during this price dip, meaning developers and users are still actively building. NFT creators in particular love Solana for its speed and low fees. Considering Solana reached its all-time high in the past, the current price is definitely interesting for those seeking medium-term growth.
And then there’s XRP, which entered 2026 in a completely different position than it had a few years ago. The SEC resolved its disputes, global ETFs were launched, and all that regulatory uncertainty simply disappeared. It’s now trading near $1.42 and is truly integrated into international banking for cross-border payments. Its alignment with ISO 20022 standards positions it as the preferred option for central banks and serious institutions. This gives it a fairly solid value floor, regardless of speculative hype.
What unites these three is that each offers something different but equally valuable. Ethereum combines technical efficiency with massive institutional adoption. Solana provides speed without compromise and a growing ecosystem. XRP has legal clarity and practical utility in a regulated sector. All of them are positioned to attract both retail and institutional capital this year. If you’re looking where to focus attention in 2026, these three are the ones I’d be monitoring closely. On Gate, you can follow their movements and analyze real-time data.
