Golden Financial reports that on April 28, according to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. officials said that U.S. President Trump and his national security team are skeptical about Iran’s latest proposed agreement. Under the proposal, Iran would ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and would shelve discussions about its nuclear program. Trump discussed the proposal with his aides on Monday morning local time. The officials said that although Trump did not outright reject it, he raised concerns about whether Iran would act in good faith and whether it would be willing to meet his key demands. Trump’s key demands are: Iran stops nuclear enrichment activities and pledges never to develop nuclear weapons. The officials said the United States will continue negotiations with Iran, and the White House is likely to respond and put forward counterproposals within the next few days.
