Solana has chosen Falcon for post-quantum cryptography, and migration preparations have been completed. Gate news reports that on April 27th—the official Solana team released a comprehensive quantum computing roadmap, reaffirming that quantum threats still require several years, and that the ecosystem has already conducted extensive research and technical preparations. Two independent validator client development teams, Anza and Firedancer, ( jointly represent an important part of the network staking ), each independently determining the need for a more compact post-quantum digital signature scheme suitable for high-throughput blockchains. Both teams have chosen the Falcon scheme and have released preliminary implementation code on GitHub. Additionally, the Solana Winternitz Vault developed by Blueshift has been running in the ecosystem for over two years, providing assurance for achieving a direct post-quantum path. Earlier this year, Google Quantum AI cited this Vault as a leading example of forward-looking post-quantum work in its white paper. Solana’s current quantum roadmap consists of three parts: continuing quantum research and evaluating Falcon and alternative schemes; adopting post-quantum schemes for new wallets when quantum becomes a credible threat; and migrating existing wallets to the chosen scheme. The network states that the migration process is controllable, can be completed quickly, and is expected not to impact network performance.
