I just saw the official OPEN Mainnet go live today, and it’s pretty interesting to watch. The concept is simple but powerful—they launched Open Datanet as an on-chain layer that allows anyone to contribute their data. Well, the data you contribute will later become the backbone for training specialized AI, so it’s not just random data.

What’s interesting is their incentive system. If your data gets validated, you immediately land on the Open Datanet leaderboard and can earn $OPEN based on the real impact of your contribution. They use a mechanism called Proof-of-Attribution, so everyone whose data is used for training or running AI is guaranteed to get paid directly in $OPEN. This is a pretty fair way to ensure transparency and encourage genuine participation from the community.

There are also some interesting partnerships. OpenLedger and the Cambridge Blockchain Society just launched a grant program worth $5 juta specifically to push decentralized AI research further. Plus, there’s a KAITO campaign running for 3 months with a total of 250k OPEN as rewards for quality content. So there are multiple ways to engage and earn from this ecosystem.

In my opinion, this could be one of the more sustainable models for AI development—directly involving the community and paying them fairly. If you’re interested in following the developments, OpenLedger HQ is also actively pushing awareness about this initiative. Worth keeping an eye on to see how adoption of Open Datanet grows going forward.
