Remember that concept of the Kardashev Scale that classifies civilizations by energy consumption? Well, it makes a lot of sense when you start connecting the dots about the future of energy generation on the planet.

Elon has an interesting point about this: basically, all the energy we will need will be solar. It’s not even that futuristic when you think about the math behind it. The Kardashev Scale shows us that advanced civilizations naturally migrate toward large-scale energy sources, and the sun is literally the most abundant source we have.

What’s kind of crazy is that you don’t need that much space. A small portion of Texas or New Mexico could easily cover the entire electricity demand of the U.S. It might seem exaggerated until you see the solar radiation numbers in those regions and the efficiency of current panels.

When you truly understand the Kardashev Scale and what it implies about energy consumption, it becomes obvious that the solar transition isn’t even a matter of technology or feasibility, it’s more a matter of time. It’s like... why aren’t we doing this already? The answer probably has more to do with economic incentives and inertia than technical limitations.
