I noticed an interesting analysis from Bitwise about the risks of Bitcoin depending on the holding period. It turns out that if you hold BTC for at least three years, the probability of a loss is almost zero — only 0.7%. And if five years, then just 0.2%, and over ten years, there have been no losses at all.

But short-term traders are a completely different story. Day traders risk losing money 47% of the time, a week of holding — 44.7%, a month — 43.2%. Even holding for a year doesn't guarantee safety: the risk of loss there is 24.3%.

Currently, Bitcoin is trading around $78,000, which is interesting considering that investors who hold for three to five years bought at an average of $34,780. It turns out they are now in roughly 90% unrealized profit. Bitwise Investments shows a clear pattern: the longer the strategy, the more peacefully you can sleep at night. In short, long-term investors win.
