Just checked the blockchain data, Bitcoin is only 3 million away from reaching 20 million. If we look at the current mining speed, this will be achieved within the next week. So basically, 95% of the total supply of 21 million is already in circulation now.

What’s interesting is the contrast. Mining the first 19 million took more than a decade. But for the last 1 million Bitcoin? Satoshi already set everything in the protocol with a halving every 4 years, and calculations show it will take more than 11,000 days in the coming years, or roughly 114 years. Crazy.

Now, Bitcoin’s inflation rate is below 1%, with a daily output of around 450 Bitcoin. The projection is that 99% of all Bitcoin will be mined before 2035. But the last Bitcoin? It will only be released in the 2140s. So basically, our generation will see 95% of the supply, while our children and grandchildren will see the rest.
