Golden Finance reports that on April 27th, Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI went to court. Legal experts and market forecasters generally believe that Musk’s chances of winning at the Oakland Federal Court are slim. Since March, his probability of winning on the Kalshi platform has been about 40%, far below the 57% he boasted when he posted in January that he was “eager to go to court.” Duke University law clinical professor and director of the Duke Center for Law, Innovation & Creativity Jeff Ward said of Musk’s chances: “It’s possible to win, but savvy investors wouldn’t bet on him.” The remedies Musk seeks include: demanding that OpenAI’s for-profit subsidiary pay its non-profit parent company potentially over $180 billion in damages; removing OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman from their leadership roles; and reversing OpenAI’s recent transition toward a more traditional governance structure. Even implementing just one of these proposed changes would seriously disrupt OpenAI’s IPO process. The company could go public as early as the end of this year. (Dongxin News)
