France charges 88 suspects over cryptocurrency-related violent attacks
CryptoWorld News reported that, according to CryptoNews, French authorities have brought charges against at least 88 people over violent attacks targeting cryptocurrency holders, including ten minors. The case involves 12 investigations by the Paris Judicial Court. Prosecutors said that 75 defendants are still held in pre-trial detention, and law enforcement continues to investigate the networks behind the attacks. These violent assaults used physical threats or violence to force victims to transfer cryptocurrency assets. The French authorities link such crimes to home invasions, kidnapping, and extortion. PNACO has recorded a sharp rise in cases of this type: 18 in 2024, 67 in 2025, and 47 already recorded in 2026 to date, indicating an increase in violence-related crimes connected to cryptocurrencies in France. Prosecutors warned cryptocurrency holders to remain vigilant and avoid excessive exposure on social networks to prevent becoming targets. Blockchain security firm Certik said that worldwide crypto-related violent attacks increased by 75% year-on-year in 2025.
