Hubei uncovers the first virtual currency theft case, involving over 100 million yuan in funds

Odaily Planet Daily News: Police officer Guo Tingyu from the Cybersecurity Brigade of Qingshan District, Wuhan Public Security Bureau, participated in solving Hubei’s first virtual currency theft case. By tracking the fund flow and analyzing fake wallet code, they identified and dismantled a theft gang involved in over 100 million yuan in stolen funds, with all five suspects now in custody.

The report states that the gang developed fake virtual currency wallet apps to lure users into downloading and stealing coins, with over ten thousand downloads in total. Guo Tingyu also participated in solving multiple virtual currency-related criminal cases. (Hubei Daily)
