Lately, switching back and forth between the mainnet and L2 feels like choosing between saving money and saving effort... When the mainnet gas fee gets high, I start to get anxious, wanting to move all the small operations to L2 for a smoother experience, but then I think about cross-chain, bridges, and all kinds of authorizations, and I feel a bit uneasy. Anyway, my current compromise is: for daily small and frequent transactions, I stick to L2; but if I need to hold long-term or deal with large transfers or options margin trading, I still go back to the mainnet and do it all at once, minimizing moves to reduce mistakes.
Recently, hardware wallets are out of stock again, and phishing links are everywhere, so I have to pause for two seconds every time I sign to double-check the domain... I don’t install any, the busier I am, the more likely I am to make mistakes, so I’ve just written my frequently used addresses in notes, and I use whitelists whenever possible. Ultimately, saving gas isn’t worth sacrificing that little bit of confirmation time.
I still believe: as long as you don’t get carried away, ordinary people just need to “make fewer mistakes + live a bit longer.”
