#我的Gate交易时刻 My Gate trading moments: from " chasing gains and avoiding losses" to "steady and cautious," gradually learning to respect the market
#My Gate Trading Moments
Having been involved in the crypto market for nearly two years now, Gate platform is where I truly started to focus on trading. From initially not being able to distinguish between futures and spot trading, to now being able to explain my own logic based on candlestick charts, I’ve experienced many pitfalls and losses along the way, which I believe every newcomer can relate to. Today, taking this topic as a starting point, I want to share my real trading experiences on Gate and some insights gained from pitfalls.
When I first entered the market, like most beginners, I only had "getting rich quickly" in mind. My first trade on Gate was following the trend and buying a highly popular Meme coin at the time. Seeing the community shouting buy signals everywhere, I impulsively went all-in with more than half of my funds. Within just a couple of days, the project team dumped the price, and the coin's value was halved. I panicked and cut my losses, losing nearly three times my initial capital. That was when I realized that the so-called "wealth code" is mostly a trap set by others to get you to take over their positions.
Later, I started to calm down and learn more. I began practicing spot trading on Gate, choosing mainstream coins like BTC and ETH for dollar-cost averaging. Watching the market fluctuate daily, I gradually learned to identify support and resistance levels, and understood the importance of position management. One of the most memorable moments was last year when BTC was fluctuating around 30k. Many people were shouting "it will fall further," but based on my analysis, I gradually built a position in spot. Not long after, the market rebounded, and BTC surged past 40k. This trade was my first taste of the joy of trading based on my own logic, and it made me realize that the market is never driven by emotion but by patterns and patience.
Later, I tried contract trading, which was also the biggest pitfall I encountered on Gate. Initially, I thought of using small funds to chase high returns, opening high leverage to buy the dip and sell the rally. The result was either getting stopped out by short-term volatility or holding positions until liquidation. Several times, I saw my account balance drop to zero instantly, which was a very helpless feeling. Once, I traded ETH contracts with 20x leverage, just as the Federal Reserve announced an interest rate hike. The market was highly volatile, and because I didn't set a proper stop-loss, I was liquidated. That loss made me calm down for a long time and fully understand that contract trading is not gambling. Without risk control awareness, no matter how high the expected returns, it’s all just castles in the air.
Now, my trading style has become much more stable. On Gate, I divide my funds into three parts: one for mainstream coin spot dollar-cost averaging, another for low-leverage short-term contracts (leverage within 5x), and the remaining for unexpected market situations. Before each trading day, I review the overall market trend, set take-profit and stop-loss levels, and even if the market looks tempting, I don’t easily break my trading plan. Recently, with many altcoins experiencing large fluctuations, I didn’t follow the trend but continued holding my spot positions, occasionally making small swings. This approach has been much more stable than my previous impulsive trades.
In fact, over these two years of trading on Gate, my biggest takeaway isn’t how much money I made, but learning to respect the market. The market never changes because of anyone’s emotions. Those so-called "gurus" have all developed their own trading systems through countless losses. For newcomers, instead of dreaming of overnight riches, it’s more important to survive in the market, learn to control position sizes, set stop-losses, and respect risk—these are more valuable than anything else.
Finally, I want to say to friends trading on Gate: trading is a marathon, not a sprint. Short-term wins or losses don’t matter much. Being able to gradually accumulate in the market, find your own rhythm, and grow is what makes you a true winner. I hope we can all earn not only profits but also growth in this market.
