ONDO at $0.55—are you chasing it?
BlackRock’s strategy goes on-chain, ONDO surges 30% in one day, but with its founder’s death, legal disputes, and 1.7 billion tokens counting down to unlock—does this move at $0.55 represent a true RWA revolution, or a dead cat brought back to life by market manipulators?
Let’s look at the surface first: the catalysts are strong, and the price action is aggressive.
On September 24, Ondo Intelligent Portfolios went live, turning three portfolio strategies designed by BlackRock—high yield, balanced growth, and high growth—into individual on-chain tokens for non-U.S. qualified investors. DTCC Fund/SERV was integrated, Oasis Pro obtained FINRA authorization, and NEAR launched a batch of tokenized U.S. stock/ETF products.
The market immediately priced it as “institutional-grade asset management moving on-chain.” ONDO rose from $0.35 to $0.55, gaining 35%-45% over the week, with trading volume expanding to hundreds of millions of dollars. The candlestick moved above all moving averages, and the weekly chart shifted from a year-long downward correction into a medium-term bullish trend.
Everyone is shouting: RWA leader, institutional bull market incoming.
But—here comes the turning point.
$0.55 is the first real resistance level, with daily RSI at 70-75 and CCI and Stoch all in overbought territory. This does not mean “an immediate crash”; it means “the probability of continuing a straight-line rally is falling.” Chasing long at market now is not investing—it is carrying the sedan for those who entered at $0.35.
First: BlackRock moved the strategy on-chain, but it did not move the profits into your wallet.
This catalyst is real—a product-level catalyst, not empty hype.
Ondo tokenized portfolio strategies designed by BlackRock, allowing institutions to exchange in-kind for Ondo Stocks; the DTCC channel was integrated, and Oasis Pro obtained FINRA approval. The RWA narrative has expanded from “tokenized Treasuries” to “stocks + portfolio strategies”—that is a qualitative shift.
But understand this clearly: institutions are buying licenses and access channels, while retail traders are buying the token. These are not the same thing.
A large part of the catalyst has already been priced in. The next catalyst needs to be harder-hitting—meaningful expansion of U.S. retail access, activation of the fee switch, or a larger asset-management partnership. Otherwise, $0.55 is simply a short-term sentiment peak.
Second: the company is strong, but the token is weak. This is ONDO’s most painful truth.
On the company side, it is indeed strong:
A leading player in the RWA sector, with approximately 60%+ market share in tokenized U.S. stocks/ETFs
Platform TVL of approximately $3.0-3.5 billion
Annualized product fees of approximately $50-58 million
SEC investigation concluded in December 2025 with no charges
U.S. licensing is progressing
But on the token side, it is weak:
ONDO is still a governance token, and protocol revenue barely flows back to holders
The fee switch is still not activated
Approximately 4.87 billion circulating out of a total supply of 10 billion
Around January 18, 2027, approximately 1.7-1.9 billion tokens will unlock, equivalent to one-third of the current circulating supply
In plain English:
The business is pricing in “the future Wall Street access channel,” while the token is pricing in “a valve that has not yet been opened + a major unlock four months from now.”
You are buying governance votes, not rights to revenue. The company may deserve a higher valuation, while the token may not move in tandem. At $0.55, with a circulating market cap of approximately $2.6-2.7 billion and an FDV of approximately $5.4-5.5 billion, the “BlackRock narrative” has already been priced in, but the “revenue rights” have not.
More painfully, after founder Nathan Allman unexpectedly died in May 2026, control lawsuits, family disputes, and rumors that the company was being “sold” emerged. The company denied them, but this will suppress its long-term valuation premium. The catalyst belongs to institutions, while the unlock belongs to retail traders.
Third: the macro environment is not a broad-based bull market, but a structural rotation.
The Federal Reserve raised rates by 25 bp to 3.75%-4.00% on September 16, its first hike since July 2023, and the dot plot was hawkish. BTC is currently around $84,000, down from $87,000, while risk appetite is average.
But ONDO has not been fully in sync with BTC during this move. Capital is rotating from the “Bitcoin ETF narrative” toward “tokenized stocks/portfolios.” In a high-interest-rate environment, tokenized Treasury and stock channels instead have an institutional allocation rationale.
That is why it can produce an independent rally when the broader market is mediocre. But remember: ONDO is benefiting from RWA beta, not a broad altseason. If BTC breaks down again, it will also be dragged lower—its volatility may simply be smaller than that of pure memecoins and greater than that of pure governance tokens.
The chart: bullish direction, expensive position.
Long-term cycle: ATH around $2.14 in December 2024 → major bottom around $0.20 in February 2026 → $0.55 now. It still has approximately 74% upside to the ATH, so this is not a topping structure but the first major advance after a bottom.
Medium-term: the 50-day moving average is at $0.36-0.37, and the 200-day moving average is at $0.33-0.35. The current price is far above both moving averages, so the bullish trend is clear. But daily RSI is at 70-75, indicating overbought conditions.
Key levels:
Immediate resistance: $0.55-0.56, where you are now; the bull-bear dividing line
Strong resistance: $0.58 / $0.61-0.66; only after a breakout can we discuss a second wave
First support: $0.50-0.515, a healthy pullback zone
Trend support: $0.45-0.48, the floor for preserving the daily structure
Breakdown level: $0.35-0.36, near the 50-day moving average; losing it would mean returning to a range-bound market
In terms of volume, the candle that broke above $0.495 was a genuine high-volume breakout; if the move around $0.55 continues on declining volume, its quality will deteriorate.
Trading strategy: do not open a new core long at $0.55.
My position is clear: bullish direction, expensive position. Now is not the place to open a core position.
For existing longs:
Trim 30%-50% around $0.55 to lock in a safe cost basis. Use $0.515 as the trailing take-profit level; if the daily candle closes below $0.50, reduce another portion. Do not use “it can still reach $1” as the reason to hold—the idea is a medium-term narrative, not risk management for this trade.
For those with no position who want to go long:
Do not chase at market. Use two levels:
Aggressive pullback long: $0.505-0.515, stop-loss at $0.478, first target $0.55, second target $0.61
Conservative pullback long: $0.45-0.48, stop-loss at $0.428, targets $0.55 / $0.61
Position-sizing recommendation: no single trade should exceed 3%-5% of total capital; 3-5x leverage is sufficient. This coin is highly volatile—adding more leverage means handing yourself over to stop hunts.
For short-term shorts:
Only short at rebound highs; do not short the trend. Conditions: clear stalling between $0.55-$0.575, such as a long upper wick, high-volume stagnation on the 4H chart, or bearish RSI divergence. Stop-loss at $0.592, targets $0.515 → $0.50. You must reduce at $0.50; do not fantasize about shorting it directly back to $0.35. The trend is still bullish, so countertrend shorts should only be scalp trades.
Medium-term framework (1-3 months):
Add to longs only when all bullish conditions are met: daily close above $0.58, BTC holding above $80,000, and no new governance blowups.
Bearish/exit conditions: daily close below $0.45, or a “buy the rumor, sell the news” setup plus expectations of a large unlock emerging before the January 2027 unlock.
Funding rates are currently overall near neutral with a slight bullish bias. Leveraged longs are present, but the market has not reached extreme overcrowding. The real danger is if the price continues grinding upward, funding turns positive and rises, and OI moves up another level—then the pullback will come quickly.
Finally, here is the painful truth—think about it yourself.
At $0.55, the first layer of the narrative has already been bought. From here, it either pulls back to confirm before moving higher, or forms a false breakout and shakes out late chasers. Both scenarios are more comfortable than chasing now.
$0.55 is not the starting point; it is the first toll booth.
The business is pricing in “the future Wall Street access channel,” while the token is pricing in “a valve that has not yet been opened + a major unlock four months from now.”
Chasing longs now is not investing—it is carrying the sedan for the unlock sellers. Waiting for a pullback is not cowardice; it is staying alive.
At $0.55, do you dare chase it?
