Bitcoin is around 76800, with an important support level tonight. If it can hold above 77500 before the U.S. market closes or at tomorrow’s 8 a.m. daily close, a further drop is unlikely. If support fails here, it may retest the broader support around 75200 in the near term.
As Bitcoin attempts to hold its ground around $78,000, the upcoming week brings a convergence of events: the U.S. midterm elections, uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve, and the release of employment data. To interpret this landscape from the perspective of an individual investor, it is necessary to examine both historical data and current technical levels.
Historical Pattern: Declines During Election Years, Recovery the Following Year
Following the last three midterm elections, 12-month returns reached 24.5%, 44.9%, and 92.3%, respectively—an average of 53.7%. However, the election ye

As Bitcoin attempts to hold its ground in the $76,900 range on the first trading day of the week, the sea of red on the screens naturally prompts individual investors to ask, "What is happening?" However, a more sound approach is to interpret this situation by looking at multiple layers rather than focusing solely on a single day’s price action.
Technical Outlook: A Squeeze Below Moving Averages, Yet Above Support
The 1-hour chart shows the price at $76,982—positioned below the 20, 30, and 50-period exponential moving averages (EMA). The EMA20, sitting at $77,902, acts as the immediate resistance, while the SuperTrend indicator remains in a "sell" position at $78,420. With technical indicators clearly reflecting downward pressure, the $76,282 level stands out as a short-term floor. This consolidation suggests a zone where the price is catching its breath to determine its next direction, though a clear decision has yet to be made.
Market Psychology: No Panic Selling, but a Cautious Wait-and-See Approach
Recent price movements are driven not only by technical indicators but also by unease stemming from security-related news. Following a major security incident over the weekend—an event now noted in market history—Bitcoin dipped to $76,173. However, there was no sustained panic selling; instead, the price recovered back into the $77,000–$78,000 range. For individual investors, this distinction is significant: despite sharp declines, the majority of the market has shifted into "wait-and-see" mode rather than opting for an "exit." This does not signal a search for a short-term bottom, but rather a cautious stance amidst an environment of uncertainty.
Institutional Flows: Volatility in ETFs and Structural Positioning
On the institutional front, the picture is more nuanced. Recently, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows exceeding $643 million—a figure that reversed a substantial portion of the total inflows recorded year-to-date. However, rather than interpreting this as an end to institutional demand, it should be viewed as a reflection of fluctuating short-term risk appetite. In fact, there were periods—such as late October—that saw strong inflows into ETFs, alongside interest from sovereign wealth funds. In short, the institutional sector has neither fully withdrawn nor shifted into aggressive buying mode; instead, it remains in a state of flux.
Macro Framework: The Fed, Elections, and Interest Rate Expectations
The Federal Reserve’s decision to hold its policy rate steady in the 3.75%–4.00% range—with two members voting for a rate hike—is a primary source of market uncertainty. While the probability of a rate hike in December is currently priced in at a high 79%, the upcoming U.S. midterm elections and Friday’s employment report could reshape these expectations. A high-interest-rate environment increases the appeal of fixed-income instruments, such as bonds, while raising the carrying cost of assets like Bitcoin, which offer no yield. Consequently, the persistence of volatility until the macroeconomic landscape becomes clearer can be considered a natural market response. Maintaining Discipline While Awaiting Data Flows
The current landscape for Bitcoin does not offer enough clarity to definitively declare a "bottom" or a clear "direction." Technical indicators point to downward pressure, ETF flows suggest fluctuating institutional demand, and the macroeconomic calendar indicates an uncertain path for interest rates. In such an environment, the most prudent approach for an investor is to monitor the flow of data holistically—rather than over-interpreting any single piece of information—and to act in alignment with their own personal risk tolerance.

When will this ever end?
I really didn't want the hedging short to be in profit, but I have to pump it to trigger liquidation.
The short wants to exit, then I’ll add to my long position to raise the average entry price.

$NEAR is currently at 3.852, down 9.49% over 24H. The 1H is oversold (RSI 7.56) and weak, while the 4H is also weak (RSI 22.86). If it holds above the 4.349 resistance, watch for continuation; if it breaks below the 3.848 support, it could move lower. In the follow-up review, watch whether it can reclaim support after a breakdown and how long the oversold rebound lasts. Market volatility is high; for observation only.

Everything has fallen at once. Stocks, gold, and bitcoin.
October ended with the Nasdaq posting its worst month in a year and a half, gold below 4,000 and near its low for the year, and bitcoin on track for its worst October in 12 years.
Weren’t gold and bitcoin supposed to be safe havens?
When fear is real, people don’t sell what they want to sell. They sell what they can. Funds are dumping tech stocks at the fastest pace in a decade, they need cash, and they’re getting it from wherever they can: gold, bitcoin, whatever.
When everything falls at once, the market isn’t looking for a safe haven

Today's review:
I initially planned to short BTC today, but halfway through, I thought the price would rise, so I closed the short and flipped long! That was the stupidest decision! If I had held the short, I could have captured 1800 points of profit!
The small losses from stop-losses on the other three altcoin trades were also completely unnecessary, foolish moves!
A string of reckless trades, 4 consecutive losses, and a painful loss of 0.5% of my full position! The loss wasn't much, but the damage was huge! Copy traders will think I'm just a clueless retail trader who's ripe for the picking.

The U.S. midterm elections are entering the final stretch, with control of both chambers of Congress still at stake. Inflation, energy prices, tariffs and economic policy remain key voter concerns, while the result could shape fiscal, trade and regulatory policy over the next two years. If the balance of power in Congress changes, which policies could be affected first? How might U.S. stocks, gold and crypto trade the election outcome? Are you watching fiscal policy, tariffs or crypto regulation most closely?
