On July 28 the benchmark collapsed 9%, slicing through 6200 for the first time since April and forcing Korea Exchange to pull both emergency brakes at once - a sell sidecar that freezes program sell orders for 20 minutes, and a full circuit breaker. It was the 8th circuit breaker this year, and by far the most violent.
Why two stocks broke an entire market
This was not a broad market selloff. It was a chip meltdown.
Samsung Electronics fell more than 10%. SK Hynix fell more than 12%
