ME News, June 11 (UTC+8): Citibank will launch a blockchain platform that allows wealthy and institutional clients to trade tokenized portions of private company equity, initially only open to offshore investors. Citibank says it has already been in discussions with several major unlisted companies about participating. With high-profile private firms such as SpaceX and Anthropic delaying their IPOs, Wall Street’s demand for private equity allocations is rising. Citibank previously predicted that in the 2030s, the size of the tokenized securities market could reach approximately $4 trillion, and has piloted tokenizing customer deposits for cross-border settlement through its Token Services. It has also recently joined a tokenized deposit network alliance led by JPMorgan, with the goal of enabling 24/7 settlement of large client funds. (Source: ChainCatcher)
