According to a report from Congo (Kinshasa) media 3, a shipwreck occurred on the 2nd in the waters of the Aruimi River in Jobo Province, in northeastern Congo (Kinshasa), leaving more than 60 people missing. The report said the accident happened in the Aruimi River area north of Gisangani, the provincial capital of Jobo Province. The report cited witnesses as saying that the accident vessel was carrying a large number of passengers and cargo, and was severely overloaded. The report said that search and rescue operations are still under way, but due to rainfall the water level of the Aruimi River is high, making rescue efforts difficult. With numerous rivers and lakes throughout Congo (Kinshasa), taking a boat is one of the main ways residents travel. Shipwrecks occur from time to time due to reasons such as old vessels and overloading. (Xinhua)
