ME News Report, June 11 (UTC+8), if Trump had accepted the terms negotiated by his negotiation team last month, he would have likely reached a preliminary agreement with Iran by the end of May. But after the White House Situation Room meeting on May 29, Trump decided to demand two additional modifications from Iran, including: Iran must start diluting its enriched uranium stockpile within 60 days; Iran promises not to charge any transit fees to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In exchange, Trump was willing to accept the dilution of enriched uranium within Iran under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The promised agreement has yet to be realized, and some even view it with sarcasm, leading to increasing frustration. Meanwhile, hardliners in the U.S. also criticize him for being too soft on Iran. Worse still, Iran has publicly and privately expressed hope to first have some frozen assets unfrozen, while Trump insists that the obligations of the agreement must be fulfilled first.
