🇨🇳China invests $295B to build data centers

Beijing plans to spend about 2,000 billion RMB — equivalent to $295 billion — to develop a nationwide data center network over the next five years.
According to the plan, China Telecom will operate most of the data center systems, ensuring connectivity on a national scale. About 80% of core technology will prioritize domestic suppliers, including Huawei, especially in AI chips and computing infrastructure.
This means China is trying to push Nvidia and AMD out of the domestic AI ecosystem. The plan is part of the “6 Networks” program, which includes strategic infrastructure layers such as electricity, water, compute, and data networks.
