Abstract generation in progress
Wu Shuo learned that Bitcoin and other equivalent EVM Layer 2 networks Botanix officially announced it will gradually cease network operations. The Botanix team stated that over the past nearly four years (including one year of mainnet operation), they attempted to build a fully decentralized L2 network relying solely on on-chain ecosystems and Bitcoin's native economic features without using token incentives, points, or airdrops. However, due to the current market preference to treat Bitcoin as a reserve asset and the high concentration of DeFi demand on more convenient Ethereum general L2s and liquidity-focused centralized distribution channels, the network's fee revenue was far from covering infrastructure costs. The official reminder is that all users holding assets on the Botanix network (including its Bitcoin new bank BINK) must withdraw Bitcoin and other assets before July 9, 2026.

RIP Botanix, another Bitcoin L2 that didn't issue a token has fallen. The market has spoken with its feet; without incentives, it's truly hard to survive.

It's quite sobering. The team at least honestly faced reality—better to exit gracefully than to stubbornly hold on, much better than those rug pulls.

The deadline on July 9, 2026, is quite generous. Holders, remember to set a calendar reminder so you don't oversleep.
