Knowing that something unattainable won't cause anxiety, and knowing that something certain won't cause anxiety either. What truly causes anxiety are those things that one can just barely reach but haven't yet gained certainty about. You see the possibility but can't see the outcome, so your brain keeps rehearsing the risks, turning future uncertainties into today's pain. The essence of anxiety is not difficulty, but uncertainty.
