ME News report: On April 20 (UTC+8), three U.S. and regional diplomatic sources said that Iran has agreed to transfer all of the enriched uranium it possesses, but it is currently unclear who would receive these materials. The current options include: Russia, which has expressed willingness to receive; the International Atomic Energy Agency, which needs to find another site for storage and processing; or the United States. The U.S. has requested to take part in the operation to locate enriched uranium, but Iran has not yet agreed and is only prepared to allow International Atomic Energy Agency personnel to be involved. This development achieved in recent weeks of contacts between the U.S. and Iran is the reason Trump has shown an optimistic attitude, but there are still multiple fundamental disagreements between the two sides. Before this report was published by Israeli media, Iran’s deputy foreign minister said that Iran would never hand over enriched uranium to the U.S. (Source: PANews)
