Friday night’s nonfarm payrolls data delivered another major surprise. July nonfarm employment figures came in far below expectations: the market had expected an increase of 80k jobs, but the actual figure was reported at -23k, strongly benefiting non-U.S. dollar assets. Gold consequently surged again above $4,300, with prices briefly climbing to $4,371 on Friday night and holding above $4,300, forming a one-way uptrend.
