When a similar milestone was reached in December 2024, the market suffered a brutal leverage wipeout: $12.8B in open interest evaporated in just one day, while $1.6-1.75B was liquidated, with most of it coming from Long positions.
History may not repeat itself exactly, but ballooning altcoin leverage is a clear signal to reduce risk exposure.
