Rebel Metis: AI Chain Breakthrough and Ecological Subversion of ETH Layer2

Share my thoughts on @MetisL2 announcing the rebranding as an AI chain:

Since the emergence of the AI Agent narrative style, I have been advocating for traditional old technology narratives and old chains to embrace the new narrative of AI + Crypto.

Solana borrowed PumpFun MEME Summer, walking at the forefront, while the Ethereum ecosystem, although the outstanding performance of the Base chain and the Virtual ecosystem have attracted much attention, it is obviously not enough to shake the path dependence of the entire Ethereum Rollup-Centric ecosystem. In this case, $METIS couldn’t sit still.

2. I’m not sure how much credit Vitalik’s mother deserves behind the scenes, but METIS was the first to break free from inertia and create an ‘unwanted child’ for Ethereum Layer 2. If you look back at a series of narratives and strategies before METIS, it’s not surprising at all:

In the technical narrative of the Ethereum layer2 ecosystem caught in the dispute between ZK-Rollup and OP-Rollup strategies, Metis has seized the centralization issue in most layer2 Sequencers and introduced decentralized Sequencers and innovative narratives such as hybrid Rollup.

In the Ethereum layer2 is too generalized, the entire market is playing Stack stacking big business narratives, Metis also chooses to focus on the layer2 economy, because Metis believes that the problem of insufficient self-generating capacity of layer2 ecology cannot be solved by relying on Stack strategy;

In short, Metis has always been a “rebellious” figure in the entire Ethereum layer2 ecosystem. Now, with Ethereum encountering a lack of innovation, Metis will naturally not miss the new opportunity to “unsheathe the sword” once again in an unconventional way.

3. How to do it specifically? First of all, we need to give full play to the high-performance advantages of layer2, upgrade the Andromeda network, and make a new high-performance chain debut, at least keeping pace with Solana and other high-performance Ethereum killer chains.

In addition, a vision has been put forward to make Layer2 chain a brand new AI computing infrastructure, including, IDAO personal central autonomous organization, DAT data anchoring token, LazAI multi-dimensional data collection system, AIith AI Agent framework standard, AI-Native application incubation, and so on.

As most of the reshaping framework structure has just been proposed, we have to wait for further details to be implemented, and it is temporarily impossible to evaluate what the new AI narrative will bring. In the worst case, this is at least the first layer2 public chain in the current Ethereum ecosystem to propose a systematic AI transformation architecture in the AI Native aspect.

Ethereum has the most active developer technical ecosystem, but the narrative of “modularity” comes from @cosmos, while the narrative of “chain abstraction” is abstracted by @ParticleNtwrk on top of its account abstraction AA concept. ZK technology is considered the ace narrative of Ethereum, with ZK infrastructures such as @RiscZero, @ProjectZKM, @SuccinctLabs, etc. being slow to be widely known in the supply chain.

What to do? The only solution: embrace AI narrative. AI Agent, as a front-end application, can bring the obscure narratives on zkVM and other upstream Ethereum platforms to the center stage, while revitalizing the outdated ecosystem vitality of DeFi, Gamefi, Metaverse, etc. on Ethereum. Why not do it?
