#BTCBouncesTo65K
BTC Ripped Back to $65K in Hours – Here's Why This Bounce Actually Has Teeth
What a reversal. BTC went from $62,314 to $65,100 – a two-week high – in the space of one CPI print. June inflation came in cooler than expected across the board, and the market did exactly what you'd expect when hike odds get gutted fast: it squeezed hard.
Let's talk about the mechanics of this move because it wasn't just spot buyers stepping in politely. 24-hour liquidations hit roughly $355 million, and shorts made up over 80% of that. That tells you a lot of positioning was leaning bearish going into CPI, expecting the print to confirm a hawkish path – and when it didn't, those shorts got forced out violently, which amplified the bounce well beyond what organic buying alone would've produced.
The rate picture flipped fast too. Fed July hike odds were sitting near 50% before the data dropped, and collapsed to roughly 15% after. That's a massive repricing in a single session.
ETH followed BTC's lead, up over 5% and reclaiming $1,890.
It wasn't just crypto either – SK Hynix's ADR ripped over 27% the same day and the Nasdaq pushed toward three-week highs, so this was a broad risk-on reaction across markets, not an isolated crypto pump.
Here's my honest read, though – I'm not getting carried away just because we printed a green candle after a short squeeze. $65,000 is sitting right at a key near-term resistance level, and the market is still pricing in a potential September hike. Fed Chair Warsh also went out of his way to stress "zero tolerance" for persistently high inflation, which tells me the Fed isn't declaring victory here just because one CPI print came in soft. One cool print doesn't undo a full tightening cycle mindset.
My plan from here – I'm not chasing this pump at resistance. I'd rather wait and see if we get a pullback into the $64,000-$64,200 zone and watch whether that holds as support. If it does, that's a healthier setup to add than buying directly into resistance off a liquidation-fueled spike.
Are you buying this breakout directly, or waiting for a retest of the $64K zone before adding?
