Wu Says has learned that the Ethereum Layer 2 network Starknet has announced the launch of a privacy framework, STRK20, which supports users in applying privacy processing to any assets. Developers can integrate it via the SDK and wallet API. Before users enter the privacy pool, they must undergo a review; activities in the pool remain encrypted. Only after receiving a valid, lawful request and passing an independent assessment will the system disclose information about the specified user, transfers, or information within a defined time range. Starknet says the mechanism can be used for funding source audits and stolen-asset investigations, while also avoiding the exposure of data from unrelated users.

STRK20’s review mechanism looks quite familiar; the balance point between compliance and privacy is quite subtly handled.

Wait for a list from an independent assessment agency—otherwise, it could end up as a “transparent pool” anyone can look up.
