🔥Lean Ethereum - Vitalik has truly gotten serious about reviving $ETH

Vitalik announces the 'Lean Ethereum' roadmap update - a fan calls it the third biggest 'protocol overhaul' in Ethereum history, after only The Merge.
🔴Three core changes:
- Verification switches to recursive STARKs instead of direct re-execution, becoming an official core component of the protocol - while all parts vulnerable to quantum computers will be replaced with post-quantum secure solutions. The priority for quantum security has increased sharply; quantum-safe blob design becomes an urgent item.
- State structure is rewritten: Keep the current 'dynamic state' but only expand it moderately, while adding new state types (keyed nonces, ring buffer, UTXO...) that are cheaper and more scalable but more constrained. Scenario for 2030: approximately 2 TB of old-style state alongside 100 TB of new-style state. Rewriting applications is not mandatory, but an ERC-20 token switching to the new model could reduce transaction fees by more than 10 times.
- Privacy and formal verification become design goals from the start, no longer just add-on features. Ethereum will also have another 'VM' besides EVM (leanISA or RISC-V) to serve recursive STARKs and programmable privacy.
Additionally, gas limit and blob count will continue to increase, and slot time will continue to decrease over the next 5 years, with a major gas limit increase expected alongside Glamsterdam.
Perhaps what is more notable than the list of technologies is the scale of commitment from the EF and Vitalik. This is not bug fixing or gradual optimization - nearly all of Ethereum's core architecture will be replaced in the next 3-4 years, and Vitalik himself compares it to the level of The Merge.
This can be seen as a sign that Vitalik is truly serious about the problem of reviving ETH - not through a single feature or a marketing story, but by redefining from the ground up what makes Ethereum cheap, fast, private, and quantum-safe for the future.
It is time for Vitalik to be more serious when other chains like Solana are strongly gaining market share with many superior advantages.
