Ethereum is going to be rebuilt from scratch. This time, Vitalik is not making minor fixes or another EIP; he wants to overturn the entire foundation. @ethereum

The Berlin meeting just ended, @VitalikButerin posted that Ethereum researchers have finalized a roadmap called "Lean Ethereum." You can think of it as the third major surgery for Ethereum since the Merge in 2022, and this time it's operating on the heart and brain.
💡What exactly changed?
➡️ Validation method changed
Previously, nodes executed directly; now it will be replaced with recursive STARK proofs. In the future, not everyone needs to run the process; mathematical proofs will confirm it's done. Efficiency and privacy will be greatly improved.
➡️ Consensus layer changed
Introducing a 1-2 round finality mechanism, making finality faster and more predictable. No more awkward situations where it's theoretically safe but you actually wait 12 minutes.
➡️ Quantum security becomes a top-tier goal for the first time
Not an add-on clause; the bottom-layer design requires quantum resistance. All new components must support quantum-resistant, trustless private transactions. Among major public chains, this is relatively early to be included in the core agenda.
➡️ Transaction fees
After rewriting the state model, fees could potentially drop by over 10x. If realized, Ethereum's competitiveness for retail users would see a qualitative change.
🤔 What's the pace?
Not a single upgrade, but continuous forks over the next 3 to 4 years. H-star, Hegota is the last pre-slim fork; after that, starting with I-star, the formal slim evolution sequence begins. In other words, people buying ETH today are buying something still under construction, but the blueprint is now out—better than having nothing.
🤔 What do on-chain whales think?
Since July 1, large holders have been continuously accumulating, a few days earlier than the release of this roadmap. Either they got the news early, or they are purely betting on a Q3 rebound after three consecutive quarters of decline—oversold rebound logic has always existed.
✍️ Let's talk about concerns
No matter how good the roadmap is, 3 to 4 years is a long time. Ethereum has had precedents where the roadmap looked great but execution dragged on for years. Whether it can land on time depends on the coordination among research teams, client teams, and the entire ecosystem. Vitalik can write smoothly alone, but ultimately dozens of teams need to push together.
Also, competition hasn't stopped. Chains like Solana and Sui won't wait for Ethereum to finish changing before making their moves. A lot can happen in 3 to 4 years.
💡
If the roadmap is realized, ETH will become a lighter, faster, more private, and quantum-secure chain. If execution is delayed, it will be screenshotted and mocked three years from now.
ethereum:native is now $1763. What do you think?
