The Trade I Closed Too Early

One trade still comes to mind whenever someone asks me about my biggest mistake in crypto.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t a liquidation.
It wasn’t a rug pull.
It wasn’t even a losing trade.
It was a trade I closed too early.
Back in early 2025, I started accumulating a project that almost nobody around me was talking about. There was no hype, no influencers posting charts every hour, and no endless excitement on social media.
The price moved sideways for weeks.
Every day I checked my portfolio and saw almost nothing happening.
Honestly, I got bored.
That’s when the doubts started.
“What if my capital is stuck here?”
“What if there are better opportunities elsewhere?”
“What if I’m simply wrong?”
After weeks of waiting, I finally sold the entire position for a small profit and moved on.
For a few days, I felt relieved.
Then the market reminded me why patience matters.
Less than two weeks later, the same token exploded.
50%.
100%.
Then even higher.
I watched the chart climb without me.
The worst part wasn’t missing the profits.
The worst part was knowing my original analysis was actually correct.
I had identified the opportunity.
I had entered at a good price.
I had managed risk properly.
The only thing I failed to do was stay patient.
That experience completely changed my perspective.
Since then, I’ve realized that trading isn’t always about taking action. Sometimes the hardest thing is doing absolutely nothing and allowing your thesis enough time to play out.
Today, whenever I feel the urge to exit a position simply because I’m bored, I remember that trade.
Patience doesn’t feel exciting.
But in my experience, it’s often one of the most profitable skills a trader can develop.
