One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in trading came from a Bitcoin long position earlier this year.

I entered the trade with a solid plan and watched it move nicely into profit. The market gave me exactly what I was looking for, but instead of securing gains, I convinced myself that an even bigger move was coming.

Greed quietly replaced discipline.

The market reversed, profits disappeared, and what should have been a successful trade eventually turned into a loss. It wasn’t a bad entry or a wrong analysis. It was simply a failure to follow my own trading rules.

Since then, I’ve focused more on risk management than on finding the perfect trade. Taking profits is not weakness. Protecting capital is not missing out. Consistency comes from discipline, not prediction.

Every trade teaches something. This one taught me that profit on the screen means nothing until it is realized.
