#预测世界杯德国VS库拉索 World Cup Preview
Germany vs Curaçao
In the first round of Group E, Germany will face Curaçao at 1 a.m. Beijing time on June 15th, at NRG Stadium in Houston.
1.01 billion versus 29 million, the fourth in the world against the 82nd, with Germany favored by 3.5 goals on the Asian handicap. From a purely strength perspective, Germany dominates Curaçao.
There's a detail you might not know: Out of Curaçao’s 26-man roster, 25 players were born in the Netherlands, with only the Chinese-heritage forward Chen Dayi as a local player. They speak Dutch, play in the Dutch style, and their youth training all comes from Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV. This Caribbean island team carries the blood of Dutch football, and the genes of Dutch football inherently include "how to deal with Germany."
Losing 1-5 to Australia, their defense collapses against slightly resistant teams; relying solely on "Dutch blood" can't fill this gap. But have you noticed? In a 2009 friendly, Curaçao drew 2-2 with Germany. These players grew up watching the Bundesliga, familiar with German players’ style. They might not be motivated to play against China, but playing Germany? That’s the most important match of their lives, and everyone will run their tanks dry.
Nagelsmann should be more worried about his own team’s mentality than the opponent. After finishing last in the group and being eliminated in 2018, and again going home in the group stage in 2022, two consecutive tournaments, four-time champions, have delivered results even Asian teams would be ashamed of.
Nine consecutive wins are impressive, but looking back at the quality of opponents and recalling that in 2022, Germany went to Qatar with the "good warm-up" label and was taught a lesson by Japan.
Pavlovic’s words before the match about Curaçao have been amplified by the media. No matter what he originally said, the signal of underestimating the opponent is the best motivation for the other dressing room.
If the first 30 minutes can’t open up the game, Musiala and Wirtz will start to panic, with disjointed passing and running, and Baku and his brother intercepting the ball to launch counterattacks targeting Chen Dayi’s speed. The game will become awkward, and "awkward" is precisely the Achilles' heel of this German team in the last two World Cups.
Gnabry’s right thigh adductor tear has been confirmed, ruling him out of this World Cup. It might just be a small line in the news, but the rotation on the flanks loses an option to change the rhythm.
Whether Musiala can play at full strength remains uncertain; with a €120 million valuation, but if he’s not at 100%, his effectiveness against dense defenses will be reduced.
Havertz is a lock as the center forward; his problem has never been ability but stability. The hat-trick at the Chelsea Stadium and five consecutive invisible performances are unpredictable.
Nagelsmann’s real reliance is on Wirtz, whose performance this season at Leverkusen has made him the most certain player in Germany’s attack. His inside cuts and long shots from the left are the keys to breaking down the defense.
Neuer, at 40, is making his fifth World Cup appearance. Nagelsmann confirmed he will start; a commanding voice in the backline is more important than reflex saves.
A coaching change before the match is a weakness for Curaçao. Edwokart temporarily left due to family reasons, and Lüttgen stepped in urgently, with insufficient time to gel.
But the fundamental issue of this game is simple: Germany will definitely win. The suspense lies in how much they win and how awkward the victory will be.
Germany needs a big win to boost goal difference and confidence, and they won’t hold back. After halftime, Curaçao’s stamina will drop, and their defense will collapse entirely.
Curaçao’s set pieces and Chen Dayi’s counterattack speed are the only gaps, but those gaps are extremely small.
Score prediction: Germany 4-0 (personal opinion only).
Curaçao can hold on for the first 30 minutes of the first half, but will completely collapse after their stamina drops in the second half.
This isn’t about whether they can win; it’s whether Nagelsmann’s team can use a crushing performance to give themselves a shot of confidence.
