From 50x to zero and rebirth: TRY/USDT taught me how to make money, 20x BTC taught me how to survive
1. Starting point of 50 USDT: the shadow line at 3 a.m.
At the beginning of 2024, I only had 50 USDT. In Gate’s TRY/USDT, I learned to survive. Low liquidity, wider spreads when banks are closed, sharp shadow lines often appear at 3 a.m. I set an alarm, watched the order book, took 1 to 2 points and then exited, up to 20 trades a day.
A year later, 50 USDT became 2,500 USDT. 50 times.
No secret, only discipline. Turkish inflation, Federal Reserve decisions, weekend political turmoil—all hit TRY/USDT first. And I always waited there before the candlestick appeared.
I understood: money doesn’t give to those who only look at charts; money goes to those who live in the charts. Knowing *when* the shadow line appears is more valuable than any indicator.
2. School closed: March 28, 2025
That was my last TRY/USDT trade. Three days later, Gate announced it would shut down.
It hurt. That was my school, teaching me patience and risk control. After a week of confusion, I realized: at Gate, the game doesn’t end, it just levels up.
TRY/USDT taught me to “watch the charts,” so I started “reading” the market. Backing the 4-hour close of BTC/USDT, studying ETH/BTC cycles. Later, RWA came: NFLXON, TSLAON. When US stock markets closed with news, tokenized stocks still dropped 5 points on shadow lines. My muscle memory at 3 a.m. came alive again.
Markets change, players don’t. Yesterday waiting for TRY/USDT shadow lines, today waiting for NFLXON earnings shadow lines. The assets change, discipline doesn’t.
3. Final point of 75 USDT: June 3, 2026
In early June, BTC hit 74k a few days earlier. Everyone shouted “69k is support.” I believed it.
My contract wallet had 75 USDT. On the night of June 3, I opened a 20x long BTC at 69,200. Position size 1,500 USDT, liquidation price 65,740. No stop loss set. “Bull market, 69k won’t break.”
At 3 a.m., BTC dropped to 66,700, then quickly to 64,100. My phone popped up a liquidation warning.
I froze. Didn’t cut, didn’t reverse. I bet “64k will hold.” It didn’t.
BTC kept falling through 63,000, 61,000, hitting 59,129. I was liquidated at 65,740. 75 USDT went to zero.
From 69,200 to 59,129, a 14.5% drop. Spot can hold, 20x leverage dies at 5%. I exited before the trend finished.
4. What really killed me
20x isn’t a weapon, it’s a magnifying glass. Good ideas get better, bad ideas become deadly.
With 75 USDT at 5x, position size 375 USDT, I could withstand a 20% drop to 55,360. BTC didn’t reach that. I could have survived.
20x only withstands 5% to 65,740. One hour of BTC price movement is enough.
But more deadly was the lack of courage. At 66k, I already knew I was wrong. 74,000 was the top. Two paths lay before me: lose 50 USDT and cut, or reverse and short.
I chose a third: do nothing.
66k became 59k, 75 USDT became zero. Because I didn’t dare to admit “I was wrong.” In trading, being wrong is cheap; holding on stubbornly is expensive. Liquidation is the bill for stubborn holding.
5. After 59,129, three iron rules engraved on the desk
1. BTC max 5x. The idea that you need 20x to make money is basically garbage. 5x can withstand 74k to 59k.
2. Write stop loss first, then buy. Each trade can lose at most 2% of the contract balance. 75 USDT equals 1.5 USDT. If wider stop loss, reduce position.
3. The invalidation point is the reverse point. Before entering, write: “If BTC drops below 68k, I no longer go long, only short.” If you can’t reverse your bias, don’t open a position. Hope is not a strategy.
Conclusion: Two nights, one lesson
TRY/USDT gave me my first 50x, teaching me not to sleep at 3 a.m. The 20x BTC took everything in one night, teaching me that position size is more deadly than direction, and courage is about reversing, not stubbornly holding.
Gate shut down TRY/USDT, gave me RWA. Gate took away 75 USDT, gave me a lesson that can earn back 75k USDT.
Trading pairs are gone, discipline remains. Money is gone, rules remain.
Now I chase volatility, not leverage. Rely on knowledge, not on a single market. Every new listing on Gate, I study on the first day. The first to learn wins.
What was your first 50x trade? Where was your night of 59,129? Share in the comments, turn red candles into experience, green candles into future.
Note: Not investment advice. This is a trader’s real log from Gate spot to futures. Manage your risks well.
