Gartner predicts that 40% of government agencies will establish TrustOps by 2028 to combat deepfakes

AIMPACT News, May 18 (UTC+8), Gartner predicts that by 2028, 40% of government agencies will establish TrustOps systems to address deepfake threats. TrustOps is an integrated framework that combines technology, processes, and personnel, with core components including digital identity verification (such as biometrics, multi-factor authentication), content source tracking (such as digital watermarks, blockchain notarization), real-time threat detection (AI-driven deepfake recognition tools), and cross-agency collaboration mechanisms. Gartner points out that traditional security measures are ineffective against deepfakes, emphasizing the need to follow the "zero trust" principle, which means not automatically trusting any user or content and requiring continuous verification. Implementing TrustOps requires investment in AI detection technology, staff training, and policy development, and recommends collaboration between government, tech companies, and academia to share threat intelligence. By 2028, government agencies that do not establish TrustOps are expected to face higher reputation risks and increased operational disruptions, and this system will gradually expand into critical industries such as healthcare and finance.
