Mistral CEO warns France should not allow U.S. AI to scan military code repositories

AIMPACT News, May 18 (UTC+8), Mistral co-founder and CEO Arthur Mensch issued a warning about Europe's reliance on cybersecurity, stating that France should not allow American AI models to scan the country's military code repositories. He emphasized that modern AI can not only coordinate attacks but also suggest methods for exploiting vulnerabilities, including Mistral's own models. Recently, Anthropic launched a military code scanning service called Mythos, raising data security concerns. Mensch explicitly ruled out the possibility of selling the company, stating that Mistral is seeking an IPO. As one of Europe's most valuable AI startups, Mistral's valuation has exceeded 6 billion euros, focusing on open-source large language model development. Analysts believe this warning reflects Europe's deep concerns about technological sovereignty and data security.
