Will GPT-5.6 and Sonnet 5 be released together this week? Strawberry scammer influencer makes another boast and faces ridicule from the crowd

ME News report: On May 18 (UTC+8), according to Beating Monitoring, an X platform account, iruletheworldmo, posted a tweet claiming that Sonnet 5, GPT-5.6, and Gemini 3.5 will be released collectively this week. The user—whose profile features three strawberry icons—is not an insider. In August 2024, they fabricated a GPT-5 release date out of thin air by riding on the hype surrounding OpenAI’s strawberry project. They even invented a character named Lily Ashwood to lure netizens, which was ultimately confirmed to be nothing more than a traffic scam. Although rumors have recently circulated that major model updates will roll out in May, this account’s approach of forcibly bundling the three flagship products into “next week” (i.e., this week) has provided no factual support. When commenters pressed them on whether they were serious, the user still gave an affirmative reply. Such baseless announcements have now become a source of entertainment within the AI community; developer Haider even mocked the situation by replying below with a prediction that “GPT-6 and Opus 5 will be released in successive releases over the next few weeks.” (Source: BlockBeats)
