Mars Finance News reports that on June 12, according to Iran’s state media outlet Fars News Agency, Iran has included Elon Musk and his companies’ business entities in the Middle East within a potential target range, covering Starlink and related ground-station facilities operated by SpaceX. The report cites “insiders” as saying that the scope of the potential crackdown includes Musk’s commercial facilities operating across multiple countries in West Asia, involving Starlink ground stations and partner networks in Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. Iran accuses the relevant companies of providing technical support in U.S. military actions against Iran, and regards them as “infrastructure involved in war-related activities.” The report also says that Iran reserves the right to take action against related facilities in the region. Meanwhile, SpaceX and the White House have not responded to this report. It is noteworthy that Starlink has been widely used for military communications support during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and SpaceX has also recently obtained large satellite network contracts from the U.S. military.
