Mars Finance News: On Thursday, bipartisan members of the U.S. House of Representatives introduced a bill to establish a cross-agency federal cryptocurrency theft task force led by the Attorney General, with the goal of coordinating and leading investigations into cryptocurrency thefts, fraud, and hacking attacks. The bill was jointly introduced by Republican Congressman Lance Gooden of the House Judiciary Committee and Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer of the House Financial Services Committee. The task force will cover multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Treasury Department, aiming to address the $11 billion in thefts and scams caused last year and provide victims with a unified federal response mechanism.
