【The Trade That Changed My Understanding: From “All-in Genius” to “Probability Believer”】

If, two years ago, you had asked me what trading is, I would probably have been practically sparkling as I told you: “It’s intuition, the thrill of 100x leverage, and the freedom that comes after cracking a wealth code.”

Until that one trade appeared—one that completely woke me up.

It was a left-side bottom-fishing move where I thought I had seen through the market. Back then, some popular sector crashed hard; the community was full of complaints, but I felt like I had spotted an opportunity of “others’ fear and my greed.” I didn’t do position management, and I didn’t look at Gate’s on-chain data. I just fueled it straight to the max with sheer passion.

As a result, the market delivered the cruelest lesson with a solid, ruthless long bearish candle—teaching me vividly at the edge of “going to zero.” Watching my assets shrink, for those days I even didn’t dare to open the Gate.io app.

“Am I really investing, or am I just taking it personally against probability?”

In the most desperate moment, it was the @Gate__Square community that saved me—through the recap and reasoning from a few experienced veterans. They didn’t brag about profits; instead, they calmly broke down how risk control, position management, and the dynamic adjustment of stop-loss lines work. That was the moment I suddenly realized: top traders are never soothsayers predicting the future—they’re craftsmen who manage risk.

I stayed up late reviewing, cut the emotional positions, and then strictly reallocated the remaining funds according to the 3:5:2 ratio. I kept only the main position in the assets with the highest level of certainty, and I strictly followed the stop-loss.

That trade ultimately ended with me exiting after taking a 30% haircut. But I felt it was the most successful trade I’ve ever made—because it used 30% of my “tuition” to buy me the ultimate investment mindset I still benefit from to this day:

The market is always right. Respect the trend, and let go of arrogance.

Losses are part of trading. If you can’t face losses, you absolutely can’t hold onto profits.

Investing isn’t betting on whether it’s even or odd—it’s a continuous probability battle where you always stay at the table.

Now, I’m more used to checking indicators on Gate.io, making plans, and building positions in rational batches. Even though the thrill of getting rich overnight is gone, watching my asset curve climb steadily has given me an unprecedented sense of steadiness.
