A guy owned CryptoPunk 7557

It was a Tiara Punk. Only 55 of them exist in the entire collection
The cheapest Tiara Punk at the time was worth $1.4 million
He had previously listed it for 8,888 ETH. That's $31 million. Nobody bought it
So he decided to lower the price
He wanted to list it for 4,444 ETH. About $19.5 million
He typed 4.44 ETH instead of 4,444 ETH
He listed a $19.5 million NFT for $19,000
The moment the listing went live a bot detected it
The bot knew this Punk was worth millions. It saw the price was $19,000
But the bot wasn't the only one watching
Other bots saw it too so the first bot did something wild.
It paid miners 3.33 ETH ($14,000) as a bribe to make sure it transaction went through before anyone else's
This is called a Flashbot transaction. You literally pay miners extra to prioritize your buy
The bot paid $14,000 in bribes to buy a $19.5 million NFT for $19,000
Total cost: $33,000 for an asset worth $19,500,000
The original owner watched his NFT disappear from his wallet in seconds
One of the biggest fumble of all time.
