# AnthropicReleasesFable5Modelthe Double the price. Double the capability. Worth it?

Anthropic just dropped Claude Fable 5.

And they didn't whisper about it.

They called it the most capable publicly available AI model — across software engineering, knowledge work, and visual reasoning.

The proof?
80.3% on SWE-Bench Pro.
That's not iterative improvement. That's a statement.

But here's where the conversation gets real.

Pricing doubled overnight:
→ $10 / million input tokens
→ $50 / million output tokens

Let's do quick math.
If you're building an AI feature that processes 10M input tokens a month, that's $100 → $200.
Output heavy? Even steeper.

So the question isn't “is it good?”
The question is: does 2x price unlock 2x value for your specific use case?

For coding agents that debug for hours — probably yes.

For visual reasoning where cheaper models fail — absolutely.

For casual chat or summarization? Overkill.

Claude Fable 5 is a Formula 1 car.
You don't drive it to the grocery store.

But if you're racing to win?
This might be your engine.

My take:
Anthropic is segmenting the market.
Cheaper models for everyday tasks.
Fable 5 for the jobs that can't afford to be wrong.

Smart. Expensive. And very hard to ignore.

Would you pay the premium?
