That trade that changed my trading perception: from chasing gains and cutting losses to long-term value investing

Every trader has a "game-changing" trade hidden in their mind. It may not be the one with the highest profit, but like a key, it opens the door to a mature investment world. For me, that trade happened deep in the 2022 bear market—during the LUNA crash. At that time, I was still a typical "news-driven" rookie. Seeing LUNA plummet from its high, I only had one thought: buy the dip! This time, it would definitely double. I poured almost all my funds into it and kept adding during the decline. As everyone knows—LUNA went to zero, I lost everything and carried a heavy psychological burden. At that moment, I truly understood: the market never shows mercy to emotional traders; FOMO (fear of missing out) is the biggest killer.

That trade completely changed my market judgment logic. Previously, I only looked at candlesticks and hot topics; now I’ve learned a three-layer analysis framework:

Macro level: Federal Reserve policies, global liquidity, geopolitical risks;
Meso level: whether the track narrative is sustainable, whether capital flows are genuine;
Micro level: position management, stop-loss and take-profit discipline, whether risk-reward ratio is reasonable.

I no longer pursue "hundredfold coins," but began studying platform tools and long-term value. It was during that downturn that I delved deeper into Gate. Gate’s wide range of tokens, spot + derivatives + financial products, especially the later launch of Gate Alpha, Startup, and US stock/prediction markets, made me truly feel the power of "tools changing trading." I started allocating some funds to USDT savings and BTC dollar-cost averaging, while participating in hot topics with small positions, strictly controlling total exposure to no more than 20% of my total funds. That painful lesson formed my core investment philosophy today: never put all your eggs in one basket. Diversification is not weakness, but survival wisdom.

Stop-loss is not surrender; it’s the last line of defense to protect principal. After learning to stop-loss, my account curve finally stopped fluctuating wildly.

Platforms are more important than a single coin. A good trading platform provides real-time data, risk control tools, and diversified asset allocation capabilities, allowing ordinary people to find their rhythm in complex markets. The essence of trading is cognitive realization. Making money is the result; cognitive upgrading is compound interest.

Now, I’ve gone from a "market-educated" rookie to a trader who can understand multi-dimensional information and stick to long-termism. Every time I open Gate, I first look at the overall data, then make judgments based on my framework. Even small trades are executed with strict discipline. Those past losses have now become my most valuable "tuition fees."

The road of trading is never a straight line; it’s full of setbacks, temptations, and uncertainties. But because of that game-changing trade,

I truly understand: surviving is more important than earning more.

Cognitive upgrading is more valuable than short-term profits. Thanks to Gate for always staying at the forefront of the market, providing tools, scenarios, and community, giving us ordinary traders the chance to keep growing. In the future, I will continue exploring more possibilities on Gate—from spot to derivatives, from crypto to TradFi, and even prediction markets. That trade that changed me deserves to be seen. #MyGateTradingMoments

Gate's financial management is indeed stable, and I now prefer to allocate a portion first to earn interest.

That wave of LUNA going to zero really taught a lot of people a lesson; it's not easy to come out of it and build your own framework.

The three-level analysis has been learned, especially the macro level which is often overlooked.
