U.S. "Middle Eastern Royal Family" Crypto Scam Sentencing, Female Investor in Crypto Mining Circle Loses Nearly 130 Million Yuan
BlockBeats News, June 11 — In Ohio, USA, a transnational scam pretending to be the Middle Eastern royal family was recently sentenced. Two main suspects were sentenced to 24 and 23 years in prison respectively and ordered to pay approximately $21.2 million in restitution.
In the case, 42-year-old Zubair Al-Zubair and 31-year-old Muzamir Al-Zubair were accused of impersonating Middle Eastern royalty members and hedge fund managers for a long time, carrying out scams under the guise of "government cooperation + crypto mining investment," and gaining trust through forged identities and official connections.
Next, three things need to be monitored: whether related funds continue to flow in, whether on-chain transaction volume and holdings keep expanding, and whether project teams or regulators provide new confirmation information. A single news flash can only indicate that sentiment has been ignited; subsequent data will determine if it can develop into a trend.
Risks should also be kept on the table: investigations show that the two obtained the so-called "international economic advisor" titles and other credentials by bribing local officials, further enhancing the project's credibility. One of the main victims is a Chinese crypto investor.
