US media: US claims strikes on Iran are "moderate and precise," aiming to regain leverage in negotiations

CryptoWorld News reports, according to Axios, that an American senior official stated that the strike conducted on Tuesday evening local time aimed to restore some negotiation leverage, but was carefully controlled to avoid casualties and to prevent completely closing the door to a deal. When Trump decided to take military action, the United States had not actually confirmed whether Iran intentionally shot down the helicopter. A senior White House official said that even if the collision between the Apache helicopter and an Iranian drone was an accident, the U.S. still had to respond to demonstrate that it would not accept Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz, "If we don't respond, it will appear weak and negatively impact our negotiating position with Iran." However, the official emphasized that the U.S. considers this operation a "moderate and precise strike," targeting only radar and drone control systems, while deliberately avoiding causing Iranian casualties. Around 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, as U.S. military aircraft took off toward the target area, the White House conveyed to Iran that the U.S. would only strike military facilities.
