Prediction market platform Kalshi's crypto business leader John Wang posted on social media stating that the general public considers Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) to be the "top-tier venture capitalist," successfully betting on star projects like Anthropic and Cursor, but this narrative is not accurate. The true "behind-the-scenes core" driving related investment layouts and early resource allocation is actually SBF's partner Leopold Aschenbrenner, not SBF himself.

Leopold Aschenbrenner is a former OpenAI researcher who has collaborated with SBF. His AI fund, Situational Awareness, has surpassed $20 billion in scale, with an annual return of 270%, and a total return of over 1,000% since inception. His equity bet on Anthropic contributed the most successful gains, accounting for one-fifth of the assets.
