In the 1980s, Japan was the global leader in industrial robots, with comprehensive advantages in production capacity, technology, and installation volume.


However, in 2013, China’s annual installation volume first surpassed Japan.
By 2023, China installed 290k industrial robots in a single year, accounting for over half of the global total.
Japan installed about 50k units, nearly six times less.
Japan was not only overtaken by China, but compared to itself 30 years ago, its numbers have also declined.
