Golden Finance reports that on June 9th, according to reporter Eleanor Terrett, the U.S. House of Representatives Fundraising Committee held a cryptocurrency tax hearing at 2 p.m. local time, introducing six standalone bills and a discussion draft beforehand.
The six bills address crypto donations, mining and staking taxes, reporting requirements, tax treatment equality, voluntary disclosure, and applying existing anti-tax abuse rules to digital assets; the discussion draft focuses on offshore crypto tax avoidance behaviors.
The committee stated that the above bills aim to create clarity, fairness, and operability for digital assets, and to maintain the U.S. as a global crypto hub.
Witnesses at the hearing included representatives from Fidelity, Coinbase, Coin Center, and the NYU Tax Law Center.
