Golden Finance reports that on June 10th, a trade judge in the United States urged Trump administration officials to accelerate the refund of over $10 billion in tariff revenue; these tariffs, which had been levied, were later ruled illegal by the Supreme Court, but the judge did not issue a new enforcement order requiring the government to comply.
Judge Richard Eaton of the International Trade Court in Manhattan stated that delays in processing some refund applications are causing an "increasingly unfair phenomenon" between large importers and small businesses.
Eaton pointed out that this unfairness is an "unintentional consequence" of the government's design of the $166 billion illegal tariff refund system, and he said he does not believe the government is deliberately favoring large importers.
However, he noted that the Trump administration's appeal of the March 4 ruling requiring the government to refund all tariffs is delaying the refund process. (Jin10)
