Wu Shuo learned that billionaire investor Tim Draper, in an interview with Benzinga, said that compared with fiat deposits in banks, his holdings of Bitcoin are safer because quantum computers can “break into banks faster than they will break into the blockchain.” He believes that even if Bitcoin faces a quantum attack, the community can roll back to safe blocks via a fork. Draper also said that Bitcoin is currently in the low stage of its four-year cycle and reiterated his long-term view that Bitcoin may become more important than the U.S. dollar in the future. However, Casa’s Chief Security Officer Jameson Lopp previously said that it may take about ten years for Bitcoin to complete quantum-resistant upgrades, and that the banking system’s response to quantum threats may upgrade far faster than the Bitcoin network.
